自然建造·Architecture China奖参照普利兹克建筑奖得主王澍提出的“自然建造”的评奖理念，基于对当下世界建筑的发展趋势与 中国本土现实的思考， 主张传播自然建造的理念，冀望与时代形成共振。 奖项的主要理念是如何通过寻找建造的诗意来重返自然之道 并探寻中国本土的当代建筑，或相似、相关理念。 自然建造的诗意，是自然、建筑、 城市彼此不分的体系，在当下的现实中， 奖项鼓励创造自然建造的现代版本。奖项鼓励向乡村学习，不仅学习其建筑的观念与建造的方式，更鼓励学习和提倡一种与自然彼此交融的生活方式。 奖项提倡将传统的材料运用与建造体系并同现代技术相集合，并在过程中提升传统技术的探索；奖项所憧憬的未来建筑学， 将以新的建造方式重新使城市、建筑、自然与诗歌、绘画形成一种不可分离，难以分类并密集的综合状态。
The Building with Nature · Architecture China Award refers to a concept proposed by Wang Shu, laureate of the 2012 Pritzker Architecture Prize. Based on current developmental trends in global architecture and reflections on the local reality in China, the award advocates the concept of building with nature and hopes to resonate with our time.
The main idea of the award is returning to the path of nature and exploring contemporary Chinese architecture, or similar related concepts, by identifying the poetry behind construction.
The poetry of building with nature arises from a system of nature, architecture, and the city. The award encourages modern manifestations of this concept. It encourages learning from the countryside, not only about architecture and methods of construction, but also learning about and promoting a way of life that is harmonious with nature. Alongside the exploration and use of traditional materials and construction systems, the award also promotes the integration of modern technologies. The future architecture as envisioned by the award will reconnect the city, architecture, and nature with poetry and painting in new ways of construction that are inseparable, difficult to classify, and dense.
2016年，普利兹克建筑奖得主王澍担任了由南方报业传媒集团·南方都市报主办的第四届中国建筑传媒奖评委会主席， 提出以“自然建造”作为评奖的参照理念，展开奖项评选。2019年始，这一评奖理念将在由英文建筑期刊 Architecture China主办的"自然建造·Architecture China奖"中延续。作为其基本价值观，奖项也因此命名。 主办机构建筑期刊Architecture China是第一本全球发行、聚焦于当代中国建筑设计发展的全英文专业期刊， 由建筑评论家、策展人、同济大学建筑与城市规划学院副院长李翔宁担任主编。该期刊将通过评奖和发布、出版“自然建造·Architecture China奖” 期刊特辑，为自然建造·Architecture China奖打造面向世界的全媒体推介平台，促进当代中国建筑文化的传播。 所有获奖项目与入围项目均将入选特辑与巡回展览。"自然建造·Architecture China奖"每两年评选一次， 奖项申报采取评审委员会与提名委员会提名与自我申报相结合的方式，在中国两岸三地有两件或以上高水平建成作品的中国和外籍建筑师均可纳入评奖范围。
In 2016, Wang Shu served as chairman of the jury for the Building with Nature · China Architecture Media Awards. There, he proposed the concept of building with nature as a criterion for selection. In 2019, the concept was embraced by the Building with Nature · Architecture China Award organized by the English-language architecture journal Architecture China. As “building with nature” represents a fundamental value of the award, it was named accordingly.
The organizer, Architecture China, is the first global English-language publication focusing on the development of architectural design in contemporary China, with Li Xiangning, architecture critic, curator, and deputy dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University, serving as its editor-in-chief. The journal will create a global multimedia platform for the Building with Nature · Architecture China Award by hosting the award and publishing special issues, thus promoting the dissemination of contemporary Chinese architectural culture. In addition, the organizers plan to hold touring exhibitions for the award in cooperation with the Power Station of Art in Shanghai and other institutions and launch the Building with Nature · Architecture China Award globally at the Barcelona Pavilion in Spain in 2020. The winners and shortlists of the award will be selected for Architecture China’s special issues, as well as touring exhibitions.
The Building with Nature · Architecture China Award recipients will be selected every two years. In addition to the nomination by the evaluation and nomination committees, both Chinese and foreign architects who have completed two or more high-level works in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong can applying for consideration. The 2019 Building with Nature · Architecture China Award submission and nomination deadline will be December 10th, 2019.
自然建造·Architecture China奖参照国际重要建筑奖项的评审机制，组建评审委员会、提名委员会、组织委员会， 下设实践成就奖、技术探索奖、青年探索奖、双年作品奖4个奖项。
1、实践成就奖为自然建造·Architecture China 奖最高奖，用以表彰在长期建筑实践中体现“自然建造”或相似、相关理念的建筑师， 并要求该建筑师在近十年内有三件或以上的高品质建成作品。
2、技术探索奖则关注具有人文精神并持续不辍的建筑技术创新项目（近年内运用该技术创新的高品质作品两件或以上），鼓励跨专业和跨领域的探索。
3、青年探索奖将颁给年龄在45周岁以下的青年建筑师（近年内有两件或以上高品质建成作品），旨在给予其以肯定，并充分展现青年建筑师的实验精神。
4、评委会特别奖由评审委员会成员提名并从中评选的、于2017-2018年落成并能体现“自然建造”或相似理念的高品质建筑作品。
The review mechanism of the Building with Nature · Architecture China Award follows the example of major international architecture awards by setting up committees of organization, nomination, and evaluation. There will be four awards including the Practical Achievement Award, the Technology Exploration Award, the Youth Exploration Award, and the Jury Special Award.
1.The Practical Achievement Award is the highest honor of the Building with Nature · Architecture China Award. It honors an architect who has demonstrated “building with nature” or related concepts in his or her long-term architectural practice and requires that the architect has completed three or more high-quality works in the past 10 years.
2.The Technology Exploration Award focuses on projects with a humanistic spirit and continuous innovation with architectural technologies in two or more high-quality works created in recent years. The award also encourages cross-professional and cross-disciplinary exploration.
3.The Youth Exploration Award will be granted to young architects under the age of 45 with two or more high-quality works completed in recent years and aims to show professional recognition while encouraging the experimental spirit of young architects.
4.The Jury Special Award is given to a high-quality architectural work completed between 2017 and 2018 that embodies the concept of “building with nature” or similar concepts. The recipient will be nominated and selected by the members of the jury.
