直造建筑事务所由水雁飞与苏亦奇于2012年创立。直造将中西方文化的比较研究作为工作的内核，积极地拥抱现实中的矛盾性与复杂性，以及维系一种“日用中常”的态度。一方面我们深入不同的地域，调用在地建造中那些古老的基因和智慧，试图建立一种相对经济的空间机制来赢得使用的自由，以回应当下日益严峻生态与能源的挑战；另一方面我们也试图发掘已普及的工业技术与材料中所暗藏可能性，探索身体感知与环境之间新的潜力，从而在当代生活中延展更广义的自然。
NATURALBUILD was founded in 2012 by Yanfei Shui and Yichi Su. Faced with the complex and contradictory reality of contemporary China, NATURALBUILD embraces the eastern philosophical view of “Advaita Vedanta,” or that “everything is part of a whole.” Opposed to functionalism, they reject the dichotomy of binary opposition and aim to transcend the pure concept, while the “focus on the familiarities of everyday life” has become the starting point of the studio’s design thinking.
On one hand, they thoroughly investigate different regions, invoke the ancient heritage and wisdom of local construction, and aim to establish a relatively economic spatial mechanism to gain the freedom of use, in response to the increasingly severe challenges of ecology and energy. On the other hand, NATURALBUILD also attempts to excavate the possibilities hidden within prevalent industrial technologies and materials, and explore the new potential between body perception and environment that would expand the meaning of naturality in contemporary living.

直造建筑设计事务所合伙人及主持建筑师。同济大学建筑学学士、硕士，美国普林斯顿大学建筑学硕士。美国雪城大学建筑学院客座教授。曾任职于荷兰鹿特丹OMA大都会建筑事务所。
苏亦奇
直造建筑设计事务所合伙人及主持建筑师，美国注册建筑师。台湾淡江大学建筑学学士，美国哥伦比亚大学建筑学硕士。美国建筑师协会会员。曾任职于贝聿铭建筑事务所工作十余年。
